Spacesuit for LYRIDES - 2019

Samy, a "moon child" who suffers a rare genetic disease causing a deadly sensitivity to the sun, decides to build a spacesuit to be able to go out freely. LYRIDES is a short-film directed by Theo Deprez and Corentin Bertry and written by Nassim Amoudayne.

I designed and built this costume including the suit as well as the helmet (inspired by the ACES NASA helmets) using various techniques such as traditional pattern-making and sewing, but also 3D printing with the Prusa i3mk3, sanding, painting and weathering. Beyond making a good looking piece, the costume had to be able to adapt to the actor’s performance and well-being on set.
